Studio Facts
The Piano Studio of Janelle Phinney is comfortably situated in a home in northwest Canton, providing a friendly environment to learn or improve piano skills.

Our piano students range in age from 6 to 60, and in skill level from beginner to solidly advanced. Several of our high school students plan to make piano a major part of their future, intending to major in music in college. We are very excited about their enthusiasm for making music well and for sharing it with others. For most of our younger students, the piano is simply fun. They enjoy performing for grandparents at family gatherings and sharing music with friends. Their parents see piano skills as just one part of a well-rounded education and life and appreciate the way musical study enriches their child and home. Piano lessons are tailored to the individual student and his/her goals, but they are designed to produce maximum proficiency at each level by requiring appropriate practice regimens. Your children will learn to play well and will have fun doing it.
The studio features two frequently tuned and carefully maintained pianos: a Baldwin upright and a Steinway Model M grand. We also keep a lending library of music theory games and learning tools for students to use at home. In addition, students taking group lessons will be provided with books and a dedicated book bag just for their piano supplies.
We begin our relationship with all piano students by conducting a phone interview with a parent. This initial conversation is followed by a face-to-face interview in the studio and one piano lesson (free of charge). This allows you a chance to be sure your teacher is a good fit. Afterwards, regular piano lessons will begin. (Note that our policy for group lessons does not include the free lesson.)
